Fully stocked: How XCMG Sydney is going above and beyond
When it comes to standing out in a competitive marketplace, XCMG Sydney has figured out how to deliver world-class excavation and earth moving equipment with a local, client-focused flair.
Looking to go above and beyond simply selling equipment, the company is catering for diverse client needs with its all-round assistance.
XCMG Sydney operates across four locations – its Sydney, Canberra, Albury, and Wollongong. The approach of the company’s managing director Sassin Bey draws upon his own broad range of experience in the earthmoving equipment industry, having started out 15 years ago selling second-hand equipment and tools.
“This lead to partnering up with my cousins, Michael Bek and Mark Tadros, importing excavators, loaders and dumpers from the UK and USA in 2012 under the name Australian Equipment Wholesalers,” Bey explains.
“In 2020, we signed up to distribute and service rock saw manufacturer Austramac nationally, which put us on the mission to find an OEM earthmoving manufacturer to supply our customers with quality equipment.”
That’s where XCMG comes in. The world’s third-largest manufacturer of excavators and earth moving equipment, the company has a presence in 183 countries and supplies equipment to the likes of Rio Tinto and BHP.
XCMG’s range is truly comprehensive, with a fleet of vehicles including mini and large excavators, loaders, skid steers, mining excavators and trucks, motor graders, rollers, forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
“Our XCMG range is extremely comprehensive, featuring the latest technology and quality components, along with the most compatible warranty, and best of all our service and pricing puts us a step ahead of our competitors,” says Bey.
“Our excavator range, from 1.7 to 50 tonnes, is all in stock, all civil spec, of the highest safety spec, and our turnaround time is the fastest in the industry.”
These machines are truly some of the highest-quality on the market, featuring components supplied by the likes of Cummins, Kubota, Kawasaki, ZF, Isuzu, Eaton, Yanmar, and Bosch Rexroth.
XCMG’s penchant for innovation has also seen the company develop more than 100 products including an advanced 2,000t all-terrain crane, 4,000t crawler crane, 12t heavy-duty loader, and a 100m aerial fire truck.
With a lineup that diverse, it means XCMG Sydney can supply the right vehicles and equipment for any job big or small across a range of industries. Although construction and mining are among the biggest users of XCMG equipment, small businesses such as farms, concrete companies, and scrap metal recyclers are using these machines.
It’s not just machines that XCMG Sydney offers, however, but also a comprehensive range of attachments and accessories – clearly drawing upon the knowledge from Bey’s humble business beginnings.
“We don’t only supply the equipment and leave you pondering on where to source attachments and accessories,” he explains.
“We stock everything in-house, from Dozco hydraulic hammers to Austramac rock saws, the Auger Torque full auger range, Sureweld ramps, trailers, and even accessories such as diesel tanks, grease guns, lubricants, and tool chests for maintenance.”
Given this approach, XCMG Sydney’s ascent has been rapid. Bey tells us that within 12 months, the company has gone from stocking around a dozen pieces of XCMG equipment to now holding more than $10 million in stock.
